Die Themen drehen sich rund um das kreative Arbeiten mit Holz, den sicheren Umgang mit Werkzeugen und die praktische Umsetzung im Unterricht oder in der Werkstatt.
Dabei geht es nicht nur um handwerkliche Techniken, sondern auch um Methoden, wie Kinder selbstständig und mit Freude arbeiten können.
Unsere Seminare verbinden Praxis und Pädagogik – für alle, die das Werken mit Kindern lebendig, sicher und inspirierend gestalten möchten.

Information about the seminars
Professional qualification - Woodworking with children's groups
Goal:
To impart to participants the basic knowledge to work safely and in a professionally and pedagogically sound manner with children using the material wood in their own institution.
The training includes theoretical and pedagogical sections as well as numerous practical exercises. It specifically addresses the needs of the participants and the particular situation within their respective institutions. Practical training in the use of hand tools is provided, and models are developed collaboratively. Emphasis is placed on sustainable material selection and the development and implementation of theme-related projects. Another key focus is the clear presentation of ongoing workshop activities within the respective institutions. Participants are prepared for potential situations in the woodworking shop and their knowledge is reinforced through practical exercises.
The training takes place twice a year in Hamburg-Altona. We also offer special dates for groups in our training workshop or on-site at the respective institution (plus travel expenses).
Cost:
Group price €2,200 (plus VAT), one-day course of 6 hours. Individual dates available for existing groups of up to 16 participants
Individual registration €300 (plus VAT) for a one-day course of 6 hours.
Mini-training for one person €350 (plus VAT) for 4 hours. On request.

Arbeiten mit Maschinen in der Holzwerkstatt –
Praxisnah für Pädagog*innen und Erzieher*innen
Goal:
The aim of the course is to gain safety and self-confidence in handling tools and machines, in order to be able to introduce children to manual work with joy and know-how.
This course is specifically designed for teachers, educators, and volunteers who work, or plan to work, with children or young people in woodworking workshops. It does not replace the TSM 1 machine operator's certificate but serves as a practical supplement, as much of the TSM 1 content is not relevant to the everyday practice of educators. This is where our course comes in.
This course focuses on the safe and responsible use of machinery in the woodworking shop. The emphasis is placed on both stationary machines such as circular saws, surface planers, and thickness planers, as well as the safe handling of small machines like cordless screwdrivers and jigsaws.
During the course, participants create a small piece of their own. In doing so, they not only learn basic work techniques, but also familiarize themselves with relevant safety regulations, accident prevention, and insurance issues.

Der Kurs findet über zwei Tage mit jeweils acht Stunden statt – täglich von 10 bis 18 Uhr, inklusive einer einstündigen Mittagspause.
Tag 1: Einführung in die Maschinen, Sicherheitsunterweisung und Arbeiten am eigenen Werkstück in der Werkstatt.
Tag 2: Rechtliche Rahmenbedingungen, versicherungstechnische Fragen, Planung von Kursangeboten mit Kindergruppen und die Fertigstellung des eigenen Werkstücks.

Die Fortbildung findet in den Werkstatträumen der Werkkiste in Hamburg Altona statt – einer echten Werkstattumgebung mit vielfältigen Einsatzmöglichkeiten. Durchgeführt wird sie in Zusammenarbeit mit einem Tischlermeister der Innung sowie erfahrenen Fachanleiter*innen der Werkkiste.
Together we will clarify which machines are permitted in a children's woodworking workshop and what requirements must be met. We will discuss how to effectively plan and conduct workshops with children's groups – from material selection to practical implementation. However, the primary focus is on developing the participants' own technical skills.
Dieser Kurs ist in enger Zusammenarbeit mit der Tischler-Innung, der Unfallkasse Nord und Berlin sowie dem Lehrerfortbildungsinstitut Hamburg entstanden.
Die Inhalte wurden praxisnah entwickelt, um den besonderen Anforderungen im pädagogischen Alltag gerecht zu werden – mit dem Ziel, Sicherheit, Fachkompetenz und Freude am handwerklichen Arbeiten in der Kinderwerkstatt zu stärken.

Getting to know and safely using hand tools
Goal:
Getting to know the most important tools for working with wood, metal, clay, stone, paper,…
This seminar is aimed at educators, childcare workers, and all those who work with children in a school or social context and wish to teach woodworking safely and in a pedagogically sound manner.
The focus is on responsible work with hand tools. We approach the topic both theoretically and practically. What tools are available in a woodworking shop? How can you recognize their quality and their correct application? And how do you teach children how to use them safely without taking away their joy and freedom to experiment?
We will also examine the historical significance of tools and their role in today's classroom. Whether in science, science and technology, or traditional woodworking, tools have a firm place in the curriculum and offer diverse opportunities for creative learning.
Even simple electrically powered tools are covered. Step by step, you can create your own small workpiece. In doing so, you will learn basic work techniques and gain confidence in dealing with typical risks and accident prevention.
